Dinghy Time!

Another weekend of sun and fun at the beach, but on a Rubber Dinghy this time!

We navigated along the coast near Villasimius and Cala Sinzias

Our good buddies Ben & Seb came with us, and let me tell you, I laughed from Friday night straight into Saturday with these two!
You really can't relax more than that, can you?

Easter Week End - Perfection!

Saturday morning I thought it would be nice to go for a hike since it was such a nice day.
Now, whoever knows me well knows that I've gotten lazy lately, so it was kinda strange for me to have proposed such a thing! But it was well worth it! I can't believe the colors that day and the beautiful sights we saw, literally 10 minutes away from our house.

We started out here at the small cove of Calamosca.
The light house in the background was built in 1638 and has the Spanish coat of arms engraved at the entrance. It was used as the main signaling and weapon point during the Spanish reign. It played a determining role in the war against the French in 1793, signaling their presence, enabling Spanish fleets to attack before the French reached the coast line.

The lighthouse is still in use today.
And I mean it when I said that the day was fantastic! Just look at the blue sky!

As we started to hike, we got a glimpse of our city nestled in the valley.
And then.... I think I died and went to heaven!

No need to comment on the rest of the pictures,
I really think they speak for themselves

Enrico near one of the old Spanish look-out towers
built in the 1500's by the Kingdom of Aragon
one was even transformed into a bunker during WWII

And this is what you could see from the tower....
...seriously, you could see forever.

Even if we were up at 650 feet, the water was so crystal clear
you could see right to the bottom!
There's a sail boat in this cove, we were up so high that the boat seems teeny-tiny!
Oh How I would have loved to have been on that boat!!!
We even thought we were in Torrey Pines for a second....

Christina-dise

Oh, think twice! It's just another day for you and me in Christina-dise!

Enrico not so happy about the wave conditions...
sloppy, sloppy waves!

not so happy moment - life saving in progress...
...helicopter landing...
5 people were saved that day...
...what a crowd...

Night - I named this picture "walking on the moon"

Looks like good weather has come for good! As I put together this post it is 86° outside and SUNNY! No rain! Hurray!!!!

I've been really busy putting together all the wedding plans, and some things have well, just gone wrong. Unfortunately we found out to our great disappointment that we cannot get married on the beach as we wished we could. There is a law in Italy that does not allow you to get married civilly outside of the City Hall; although we did ask the City of Cagliari for a special permit, and they granted us one, the City of Pula said no. The resort where we are have the reception is in Pula City limits and not Cagliari's, so it's their jurisdiction... what a bummer. So We'll be having the civil ceremony at Cagliari's City Hall (because Pula's City Hall is just HORRIBLE). Cagliari's City Hall is very beautiful , it is an 18th century building built in Liberty style; it was bombarded on Feb. 26th 1943 during WW2 and then restored.

As for the weekend... here are a few pix to enjoy!

Enrico over looking a surf peak, but there weren't any waves to his dismay!

A view of the semi-deserted beach

Me trying not to get too much sun all at once...
wouldn't want to be a funny color for our wedding!

Beaches in the distance

Beach we were at called Porto Paglia (Port Hay)

Bent trees from the strong North West winds

Green hills with bent trees as we left....
