What's new?

So we still haven't got our computer back from the shop, Almost 1 month now..... they say they can't figure out what's wrong with it! So we've been "computer-napping" my mother-in-law's computer for the last few weeks.

Here are the best pictures I could get of our room addition! We're still waiting for the doors to be ready, they said June 11th so let's keep our fingers crossed!

We're looking for a couch to put in the room. I would prefer a nice beige or vanilla color so that I can have fun with colorful pillows!

Adding on....

So we've started work on the small addition we've bought next to our apartment. We're adding an extra guest room/study/eventual kids room. (hahaha)

But first, I thought I'd share some pix of Stinky. He loves hiding in bags and boxes! I thought these were cute!

I wonder if he thinks that I can't see him????

Back to the construction..... Soooo, the big hole in the ceiling is for a BIG VELUX roof window which should allow us to see out onto the gulf, so that should be a spectacular view!

The tiny door on the right is an entry to a storage space (it'll be great as a secret hide-out for kids) and to the right of that is a tiny window for air and light.

I don't know if you can see the marks on the wall, but there's a door drawn on it! That's where they'll be connecting our apartment to this room!

This door will be removed and walled in, so that we'll have a nice clean wall to put the desk, or a couch with pull out bed at.

The open door is the front door to our house, while the door on the left is the door to the space we are adding. Again, that door will be removed and a wall will result.

This is what is on the other side of that wall where the door is going to be, corresponding to about where the chair and bottle holder is, so it will connect right into our dining room!

As soon as work makes any more progress I'll add more pictures!

Furniture update!!

So we finally got our new furniture!!!! Here's an update for all you curious Georges out there!

It's a gold finish and we love it!

On the other side of the room in a few weeks time will be this sideboard and we wanted the mirroring wall to match the doors!

We added shelves to the study area....

....and changed the paintings in the dining area

2 weeks ago we went to a furiture fair and bought an antique filer to match our desk. They needed to fix it up a bit and today they finally delivered it! In the picture you'll see that my mother-in-law (Marinella) has a bandage around her shoulder, unfortunalty yesterday she slipped while getting out of the shower and fell, breaking her Humerus (shoulder). Diagnosis: 30 days. We all hope she's better soon because we are expecting a new nephew on December 18th!!!

"Interior Decorator"

I love it when you start a theme for decorating parts of the house, and things just start coming together!!! I chose Roosters & Chickens for my kitchen and am just loving it! I actually got stuck on this theme thanks to my Step-Mom Nancy who has a "thang" for Roosters & Chickens as well.
In Sardinia, roosters are very popular and are a part of traditional decoration on just about every thing; ceramics, rugs, paintings, carved furniture and pastries - you can find a typical rooster for every Sardinian town.

And I got this FANTASTIC chalk board yesterday! How cool is that!!! The little baggie thingy on the left hand side is the eraser! How cute is it!!!! (I still need to find chalk, if I had kids I would of had some for sure!)

This is a hot pad from Portugal, and there too, Roosters are a symbol of their heritage

My sister-in law brought me this nifty oven mitten/hot pad from Ireland

This is how you use it, it's great for taking casserols out of the oven!

I know that this has nothing to do with roosters but, I got these cute frames as well yesterday, now all I need to do is find a few cute pictures and put them in there!

Furniture Update

Ok, So it's been a while since I've taken pictures of our new additions to the house. Taking into consideration that we've been living here since October 2007, I think we're doing pretty good at throwing out the old and bringing in the new!

Our Living & Family Room - Sofa B&B Italia, Tufty Time

Two beautiful paintings that were given to us by Enrico's Sisters for Xmas 2007 and the beautiful bookshelf Enrico bought. It's actually made from an old Indonesian door frame, I took some close-ups so you can see the details. Next to the book shelf, a coat hanger that comes from Enrico's Grandmother's old store. I love that hanger and will put it as furniture in the middle of the room if I have to, to be able to keep it!

Enrico likes all this modern stuff that I just don't care for. I mean it's just a plastic lamp in the end.... Dunno as long as he likes it!

The brand is Kartel and its name is "Bourgie", I thought they only made lab materials and supplies!!

Early 1900's Desk (again note the red plastic lamp it's name is "Miss K" and the brand is Flos, before Enrico I never knew there were so many names and brands for lamps!!!)

Rug Detail - This rug was given to us by my Mother. It was given to her by a friend and it is an antique, early 1900's. I'm glad we had just the place to put it! In the dining area!
