Here are a few pictures of Cagliari's Castel District by night. It's the "thang" to do on hot summer evenings, go and hang at the cafès on the terraces. The picture above is the magnificent view from up top!

I've been meaning to post these pix of the new silverware Enrico surprised me with last week! It's really cute and unusual because the handel part is long and slender. And I think it's sooo cute that it came with the fruit and dessert set as well, a miniture version of the table setting! A perfect 10 to Enrico for this nice surprise!
My mom and step-dad got to Italian waters earlier than they though on their way back from Menorca. So when we heard they were in Carloforte we decided to get in the car and meet them there! We stayed over night on Saturday and then navigated back to Cagliari with my step-dad and a few friends of theirs that were already with them on the boat. (my mom was done with navigating so she decided to drive the car back to Cagliari) It took us 10 hours to sail from Carloforte Island back to Cagliari's port. It was a bit adventurous at the end because it was pitch dark and you couldn't see the port, and because of the city lights it was hard to distinguish the red and green flashing lights that signaled the port's entrance. As we got closer it became a bit easier, but it was still an adrenaline rush!
While we were on the boat Saturday, one of our friends, Alberto went sea urchin fishing. I know this is gonna sound crazy to you but...... we actually eat them! We made sea urchin pasta for dinner on Saturday (pictures will follow).

In one of my older posts maybe you'll remember that on my balcony I have a BIG basil plant growing. It was going to waste just using it in tomato and mozzarella salads, pasta sauce and to season whatever.... So I decided to make pesto last night! I took a few pictures of me & my pesto & the hand made pasta I bought called Cassulli. This type of pasta is a speciality that comes from a smaller Island off of Sardinia named Carloforte. The history of this Island is interesting so if you have a minute, click on the link for a brief explanation. Anyhow, right after I took the pictures my camera died on me and I didn't have any extra charged batteries.... teaches me a lesson! ;) So I couldn't take a picture of the cooked pasta and pesto. I accompanied the pasta with a smoked salmon bits rocket leave salad and tomato.

Ok, So it's been a while since I've taken pictures of our new additions to the house. Taking into consideration that we've been living here since October 2007, I think we're doing pretty good at throwing out the old and bringing in the new!
Two beautiful paintings that were given to us by Enrico's Sisters for Xmas 2007 and the beautiful bookshelf Enrico bought. It's actually made from an old Indonesian door frame, I took some close-ups so you can see the details. Next to the book shelf, a coat hanger that comes from Enrico's Grandmother's old store. I love that hanger and will put it as furniture in the middle of the room if I have to, to be able to keep it!

Enrico likes all this modern stuff that I just don't care for. I mean it's just a plastic lamp in the end.... Dunno as long as he likes it!
The brand is Kartel and its name is "Bourgie", I thought they only made lab materials and supplies!!
